The popular author and false prophet, Jonathan Cahn, put out two recent videos claiming to reveal the “proof that there were actually witches and the practice of witchcraft behind the assassination” of Charlie Kirk. Generally, we don’t follow Cahn very closely but this past week, someone sent us a link to a Jonathan Cahn video and asked what we thought about it. The individuals who asked are aware of our interactions with witches, Wiccans, and other pagans at Pagan Festivals like Paganicon and others. They were troubled by Cahn’s claims. As it turns out, this was the second video Cahn had made concerning this issue. The first one had popped up on Facebook just a day earlier, promoted by Charisma magazine, “Jonathan Cahn Exposes the Demonic Connection Behind Charlie Kirk’s Murder – Charisma Magazine Online.” After watching the video, we thought we should preface any comments on Cahn’s recent videos with a quote by a nineteenth-century pastor, Henry Ward Beecher:
Whatever is almost true is quite false, and among the most dangerous of errors, because being so near truth, it is more likely to lead astray.
The above is a fitting description of what Jonathan Cahn does. We wrote about Cahn in 2015 (updated in January of this year) titled, “The Fad Driven Christian Life.” Other ministries have warned about Cahn as well. “Jonathan Cahn” on Monergism’s website, “Donald Trump, Kat Kerr and Jonathan Cahn?,”by Justin Peters Ministries, and The Berean Call’s, “A Critique of Jonathan Cahn’s book, The Harbinger,” to name a few.
We have to admit that Cahn spins a gripping yarn, which generally tends to coincide with his release of a new book. This is no exception, coinciding with the release of his latest book, The Avatar.
Of course, the Bible does talk extensively about demons and their evil influences on cultures and human beings in general. It seems to us that many might not really believe there are such beings, while others, like Cahn, give them far more power than they have. C.S. Lewis spoke to this issue in the Preface of his 1942 book, The Screwtape Letters:
There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the devils. One is to disbelieve in their existence. The other is to believe, and to feel an excessive and unhealthy interest in them. They themselves are equally pleased by both errors and hail a materialist or a magician with the same delight.
We sometimes see glimpses of otherworldly battles in Scripture. For example, in Daniel 10, Daniel is praying, and an angel arrives to speak with him and says in verse 13:
The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia,
There are other examples, but the point is that spiritual battles are ongoing in heavenly places, and demonic influences are afoot today just as they were when Paul spoke about this in Ephesians 6:11-12. Unfortunately, Cahn employs a linguistic sleight of hand, shifting from what is biblically true to what is “so near truth, it is more likely to lead astray.” In his “Demonic Connection” video, Cahn strings together school shootings in Minneapolis, MN, and Nashville, TN.
“In Nashville, the number of children who were killed was nine. Their ages were nine, nine, and nine. That’s the inversion. Turn it upside down, it is 666,” he said. “In Minnesota the most accurate reports is that the number that were injured were 18 people. Eighteen is the sum or total of 6-6-6. Nobody could have put that together.” (Editor’s Note added on 10-2-2025.1It has been brought to our attention that in the video Charisma used, they quote Cahn saying nine children were killed, but according to the individual who contacted us, Cahn said six children. In reviewing the video, Cahn said both. In minute 4:43-4:50, the portion used by Charisma magazine, he said, “the number of children who were killed was nine.” In minutes 4:18-32, Cahn said, “he killed six people divided up in groups of three, as six is six, but it ranged in three. And the the adults, the three adults, the ages were 60, 60, and 61.” For the record, we want to be accurate and accountable. Even so, it doesn’t change anything regarding his mathematical sleight of hand. Also, at minutes 4:13 & 4:15 Cahn states, “the Bible it says that the the mark or the number of the enemy is 666.” This is again another example of Jonathan Cahn’s eisegesis and bad hermeneutics. In Revelation, it is a specific enemy being referenced, not demonic enemies in general.)
For his first step-in fairy-tale deception, Cahn chooses a number that is in Scripture, Revelation 13:18, that in context is about the anti-Christ:
This calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is 666
Second, he takes the number of children in the 2023 Nashville shooting, nine, who were in the same class of nine-year-olds. In order to make his claim sound “true,” he performs another mathematical sleight of hand, flipping the number nine upside down to “6-6-6.” There is no rhyme or reason, except that it sounds magically plausible. Nine children, nine years of age; it would be ten nines, but with a bit of manipulation, and ignoring seven of the nines, it becomes “6-6-6” right before your very eyes. He then repeats his performance by turning to the Nashville shooting. With a little mathematical manipulation, 18 miraculously turns into “6-6-6” again. Neither of these has anything to do with the passage from which this number is taken out of context, nor with the shooting. However, for many, it may just entice them to purchase his new book.
The second video, “The Secret Behind The Charlie Kirk Assassination: Jezebel And The Witches | Jonathan Cahn Prophetic,” is a follow-up to the previous video and follows the same basic format. It is the revealing of “secrets.” Who doesn’t want to know dark and very important secrets? In the opening 45 seconds, Cahn lays out his theme:
The assassination of Charlie Kirk. It’s going to get even more explosive. Is it possible that behind that assassination were actually witches and witchcraft, even Jezebel, even an ancient spirit? And what does this have to do with President Trump and the future? Is it all part of an ancient mystery? A template that’s replaying before our eyes right now? This is what I’m going to reveal. This is Jonathan Cahn.
What could an ancient Middle Eastern queen have to do with the assassination of Charlie Kirk? And do we have proof that there were actually witches and the practice of witchcraft behind the assassination?
Cahn goes on to state:
Two days before the assassination of Charlie Kirk, on September 8th, an organization published “The Witches After Charlie Kirk,” an article. In the article, the woman who wrote it and who represented the organization reveals and boasts that she actually paid witches to place a spell, a curse on the life of Charlie Kirk.
Thankfully, we know several things that render this claim invalid. For example, the story came from a website named Jezebel which is owned by the Paste Media Group. The piece was uploaded on September 8 as a satirical piece making fun of the Etsy website and “Charlie Kirks rhetoric.” The story included witches selling hexes on Etsy and a “woman” who purchased a curse to assassinate Charlie Kirk. Immediately after the shooting, the article was taken down, and the president of the company that owns the site wrote:
“was a tongue-in-cheek exploration of people selling hexes on Etsy, and intended as a satirical response to Charlie Kirk’s rhetoric over the years”, adding that “the writer was very clear that she didn’t want real harm to come to Kirk.”
How does the biblical queen Jezebel fit into all of this? Indeed, Jezebel was an evil queen who was an evil, manipulative conniver and persecutor of God’s prophets, which we read about in 2 Kings. What did she have to do with any of this, especially since the story about hiring witches to do a hit on Charlie Kirk was a satirical response to “Charlie Kirk’s rhetoric over the years”? Nothing. We have no doubt Cahn’s videos will spur more book sales, but what he is saying is pretty well described by Beecher:
Whatever is almost true is quite false, and among the most dangerous of errors, because being so near truth, it is more likely to lead astray.
Is Jonathon Cahn self-deceived or just deceiving others? We do not know. Certainly, Cahn is missing other more likely options – like the great wickedness of the human heart in rebellion against a Holy God! Sometimes humans can and do act under the influence of demonic spirits, but most often that isn’t as necessary as some might think. Cain, for example, killed Abel simply because he was angry at God. (Genesis 4:3-8) The evil that too often proceeds in abundance from human beings’ own hearts seems a far better explanation for Charlie Kirk’s murder and other modern horror stories than fictional witches casting spells for profit on Etsy.Ω

Deceiving spirits are deceiving Cahn, of whom I call him the Conman. (1 Timothy 4:1). As far as Kirk, since you mentioned him. I have done research on Him and his affiliation with the 7 Mountain Mandate, and he was right in the middle of it with Paula White. I never heard of him before his killing. Turning Point USA is one big ecumenical family which includes the ‘Log Cabin Republicans (a homosexual group) and all faiths that pray together. Christians don’t seem to mind that either. Kirk wife is a Roman Catholic and now she is in control of Turning Point USA. If you want a conspiracy theory this might be it, the Jesuit’s did it 🙂 Apostasy. On a side note; you might want to do a look up on Charlie’s book being presold. Israel 365 reported on it. “Charlie Kirk’s upcoming book ” Stop, in the Name of God: Why Honoring the Sabbath Will Transform Your Life ” has posthumously soared to the top of Amazon’s bestseller list, reaching #1 in multiple categories three months before its scheduled December 9 release.” Kirk was influenced by Jews of course, and the Catholics’. But as a previous Seventh Day Adventist it is disturbing to say the least. Apostasy comes first! (2 Thess. 2:3)
Well said. In my observation, there seems to be a groupie mentality of sensational seeking Christians forming around Cahn and his “secrets” revealed. In one bible study I attend with 10 – 12 other women, Cahn is followed religiously as they devour his books, his prophecy’s, his endorsement’s, much to my chagrin.
In Genesis 6 we see the depravity of “heavenly beings or sons of God.” In 1 Enoch there are 20 “bad” angels/watchers named all with respective “evil doings”. Examples: Azazel – taught forbidden knowledge; Baraqiel – taught astrology, omens; Kokabiel – astrology and signs of the stars; who did they teach? Men!
In Ephesians 6:12, 18, we’re are warned “For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” which goes on to tell us in 18, “Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication…” not to sensationalize any one, or, all entities as Chan does.
As I look into the book of Ecclesiastes, “there is nothing new under heaven” or, as I say it “what goes around, comes around.”
Until Yeshua Hamashiach returns there will be the same gods (little g), fallen angels, deities, witches, warlocks, satanists… that we are warned to “be aware of”, not in fear, or, give glory too.
The fun stuff with numbers is literally the same slight of hand silliness that Kim Miller of the Concerned Christians did. A pox on all their house!
It’s fascinating how the article dives into the near truth territory with Jonathan Cahn’s methods. It’s like watching a masterful magic show, but instead of cards, he’s juggling numbers and historical figures. The way he transforms 9-year-olds into 666 is a true testament to linguistic sleight of hand! And speaking of secrets, the connection between Jezebel and Charlie Kirks assassination is certainly explosive in its own right. But let’s not forget, while Cahn may be spinning a gripping yarn, the underlying message is a classic case of almost true, quite false. It’s almost comical how he weaves these intricate narratives, making one wonder if he’s more self-deceived or deliberately misleading. Either way, it’s a reminder to keep a healthy skepticism and not get too caught up in the dark and very important secrets that often lack any real substance.
Thank you for saying that at the end that the human heart is also greatly wicked. I can’t tell you how many times I see Christians (especially the ladies for some reason) attributing anything that’s legit evil or that they simply don’t like or agree with to demons or “demonic forces.” Not everything needs to be caused by Satan or demonic spirits! Satan doesn’t care if you believe in him or not. Most of the time, Man’s evil is enough.
Great article. Amazing how many Christians can fall for sensational stories claiming to reveal hidden secrets. I’ve seen many of the books by Cahn in places like Hobby Lobby and just shake my head. Where is discernment? It is like all the conspiracy theories about the death of Charlie Kirk. One person claims this, another something completely different and then if something is later proved false, well, just go on to the next new thing.
Just because you don’t agree with someone’s theology or interpretation of events etc doesn’t make them a false prophet. That would mean you are assigning yourself to be the expert in these matters. But are you?7!
But in this case they are correct… time for you to wake up, and get over the sensational “HOGWASH”!
I have a wonderful dog named Molly. She clearly has more hermeneutical discernment that “Molly-the-human”.
